This bridge is 17 meters long! That's about 3 times as long as an average family car! Based on a real Dutch bridge, Gerard Salden is bringing this creation all the way from the Netherlands!

The Turtle Factory comes to The LEGO Show! Pete Reid, aka 'LEGOloverman' will be showing off this amazing creation plus many more of his fantastic LEGO robot creations!

Pete is known for his neo classic space creations - re-visiting the LEGO Space sets of his childhood in a totally modern manner. Make sure to come to the show and check them out!

Did you see our Trafford Centre?

Did you see our model of the Trafford Centre in the news this week? With our new home right next door, we thought why not celebrate it and recreate the shopping centre in LEGO bricks?

In fact, the LEGO Show team will be at the Trafford Centre all day tomorrow and Saturday! We're bringing with us some of the amazing Westminster Abbey model that we had at the show last year. Who knows what we'll be building this year?

Announcing AFOLCON Keynote speaker

AFOLCON are pleased to announce this years' Keynote speaker will be Tormod Askildsen, Senior director of LEGO Community and Events.

Tormod has been with the LEGO Group since 1983. Starting off as a Marketing Trainee he worked in 7 different departments during the first two years. This helped him establish a good network to colleagues across the business. In 1986, he moved to LEGO Education and spent almost 10 years in various marketing positions. Started a “Home learning” project in 1996 which led to the Launch of LEGO Mindstorms. Established a new department we called “Community and Learning” in 1999 and has been dedicated to work with LEGO User communities ever since. Heading up Community Engagement and Events today, - we are a team of 12 people dedicated to working with the AFOL and TFOL community.

We're delighted to welcome Tormod to AFOLCON. For those of you who have been in the LEGO community for any time, you will know that Tormod has been central to the involvement of the fan community with The LEGO Group which has been no small feat!

Looking to display at AFOLCON and The LEGO Show?

If you're hoping to display at AFOLCON and The LEGO Show - then now is the time to register!

As we get closer to the show, we'll soon start to finalise the floor plan and layout. So, if you want to display at The LEGO Show, then you must have registered this by the 1st April. After then, we won't be able to allow any new registrations.

All is not lost after the 1st April though! You'll still be able to register for AFOLCON until the 16th April to attend the convention. But if you're any MOCs to display - make sure you register them before the 1st April!

Announcing our World Record mosaic attempt...we need your help to do it!

We're going to attempt to break the World Record for the largest LEGO mosaic...and we need your help to build it!

The LEGO® show will be attempting to break the world record for the largest ever built LEGO mosaic and will be enlisting the aid of visitors to the show to help build it.

We aim to make a 143m2 image containing approximately 550,000 LEGO®. To complete the mosaic, the show organisers will need at least 2,000 members of the public to help by building a mosaic square, giving visitors the unique chance to be part of an official world record.

The record, officially entitled ‘the largest image built with interlocking plastic bricks’, currently stands at 112m2, and was made by DK Publishing House (UK) in London, UK in 2010.

Warren Elsmore, show director, said: “We are really excited about this world record attempt, and it will be fantastic to get the general public involved. We’ve only got three days to complete a mosaic of over half a million bricks, so we really need the help!”

In keeping with the sporting fever that is gripping the UK during 2012, the mosaic’s image will showcase sports related LEGO® minifigures from some of LEGO®’s series of collectable minifigures.

Warren added: “It’s a big year for sport, so it seemed fitting to incorporate it into the mosaic.”

AFOLCON announces the final speaker line-up and full agenda!

Quite a busy day today! The team here at AFOLCON have just announced the full lineup for this years' convention. Well, almost the full lineup - we still have one or two surprises left to come....!

The full list of all the speakers and sessions is now available on our Agenda page, as is the full agenda for the weekend. We've two days packed full of LEGO fun, followed by a fantastic weekend too. Here's some of the highlights!

- Adam Vaugn, Alex Bidloak, Bjarke Schonwandt, Duncan Titmash, Ed Diment, Mark Stafford are your speakers,

- Plus a Keynote speaker and a special guest yet to be announced!

- For any AFOLs coming to The LEGO Show as an exhibitor or just a fan, we'll be hosting two special AFOLCON sessions on Saturday and Sunday nights - free to everyone to join in

- The AFOLCON auction will be held on Sunday night - your chance to get some great bargains with some VERY special lots.

We're also announcing a couple of deadlines. The show is filling up, so if you would like to exhibit your MOCs at The LEGO Show - you must register with us by the 1st April. If you not want to display, the deadline to register for AFOLCON is slightly later - the 16th April. So make sure you're not late!

Announcing our LEGO speakers!

The team here at AFOLCON are please to announce a whole raft of LEGO speakers for this years' convention! Joining the already announced LEGOLand master builder and LEGO Certified professional, are Mark Stafford (LEGO Ninjago designer), Adam Vaugn (LEGO Friends designer) and Bjarke Schonwandt (Senior Manager, Consumer Perceived quality).

We're very happy to have Mark return for his second year presenting at AFOLCON. Last year, he brought with him a whole range of test models that were used in the production process, and he's promised the same for this year! Adam will be giving his first AFOLCON session looking at the development of the new LEGO Friends line. Years in development, he'll be explaining how LEGO Friends is designed to welcome a wider audience to the LEGO family. FInally, Bjarke will give you an exclusive insight into how LEGO manages the quality of the LEGO sets and elements. How do LEGO track what is good and what is bad? Most importantly, Bjarke is asking you to bring along any samples you have of what is not acceptable - the challenge has been set!

We still have a few more speakers to announce for AFOLCON 2012, not least our Keynote speaker. But they'll be more details of that soon. As well as details of our Auction. We've just come beck from Billund actually, with all manner of goodies. They'll be more details soon, but we will say this. It's *good* !

LEGO Show team at Brighton Model World

Well the team have arrived home after a great couple of weeks on the road, finishing up at Brighton Model World on the weekend. Westminster Abbey proved very popular again and we had loads of lovely comments from people; apparently we even got mentioned on the local news!

Amazing stop motion animation

We just had to blog this! It's an amazing stop motion animation of set 8109 - the brilliant Technic flat bed truck. And what makes it more amazing? The animator is only 6 years old!

Perhaps in a few more years we'll see you at AFOLCON? I certainly hope so!

Making it a BRIGHT Christmas

We were just passing through St Pancras station last week (the real one, not our model!) and guess what we bumped into?

This amazing creation is being made by Ed Diment and Duncan Titmarsh of Bright Bricks. When finished, it will smash the current world record and be over 12 meters high! And you won't have long to wait - the tree will be finished this Thursday - 24th November. So make sure to take a look if you're in London!

And we have more great news for you too. They won't be bringing the tree with them, but the Bright Bricks team will be at the LEGO Show 2012! As the UK's only LEGO Certified Professional, Duncan Titmarsh will be showing off some of his amazing creations and giving you tips on how to build some of your own!
